Imprinted Concrete
Pattern imprinted concrete is the driveway we are best known for in Pontefract, Wakefield, Leeds and York. People call it printed concrete, stamped concrete or imprinted concrete, and it is all the same job: a single reinforced slab, coloured, then imprinted with a pattern while it is still wet, so you get the look of stone, slate, cobbles or ashlar block without a single joint.
No joints is the whole point. A block paved drive has thousands of gaps, and every one of them is somewhere for weeds to grow, sand to wash out and blocks to sink. An imprinted concrete drive is one piece. It is swept, not weeded.
We are qualified imprinted concrete installers with more than 20 years behind us, and the groundwork underneath gets the same attention as the pattern on top: dig out, a compacted sub-base, falls set so water runs where it should, steel mesh reinforcement, then the pour, the imprint and two coats of sealer.

A block drive has a joint every few inches, and weeds, washed out sand and sunken blocks all start at those joints.
Water running at the house
Imprinted concrete is not porous, so a drive laid without falls and drainage sends the water straight at your door.

A thin pour on soft ground with no reinforcement cracks, and an unsealed drive fades in a couple of summers.

Imprinted Concrete FAQs
Is imprinted concrete the same as printed or stamped concrete?
Yes. Pattern imprinted concrete, printed concrete and stamped concrete all mean the same driveway. Different firms use different words for it.
How long does an imprinted concrete driveway last?
Laid on a proper sub-base with reinforcement it lasts decades. It wants resealing every few years to keep the colour, and we can do that for you.
Can you lay it over my existing drive?
Usually not, and we will tell you straight if it is a bad idea. The slab needs the right depth and a sound sub-base under it, so most jobs mean digging the old drive out first.
What patterns and colours can I have?
Stone, slate, riven, cobble, ashlar block and more, in a range of colours. We bring samples out and hold them against the house before you decide.
