Artificial & Natural Turf

A lawn that looks good all year, laid on ground that has been prepared properly.

Artificial & Natural Turf

A new lawn is the quickest way to make a garden feel finished, and it is also the easiest thing to get wrong. Turf laid on lumpy, compacted or waterlogged ground never recovers. Artificial grass laid without a proper base wrinkles, sinks and floods.

We prepare the ground first: clearance, levelling, drainage where the garden holds water, and a compacted, screeded base. Then we lay natural turf or a quality artificial grass, cut cleanly around patios, edging and borders.

Artificial lawns are especially popular with families, dog owners and anyone with a shaded or north facing garden where real grass struggles. We often lay them alongside a new porcelain patio so the whole garden is low maintenance from the start.

What usually goes wrong

The problems we are asked to fix

A lawn that turns to mud

Heavy Yorkshire clay holds water, and a lawn laid straight onto it becomes a bog every winter.

The fix  We add drainage and a free draining base before anything green goes down.

Artificial grass that ripples

Cheap installs skip the base and the edge fixing, and the grass creeps and wrinkles within months.

The fix  A proper compacted base, weed membrane and secured edges keep it flat for years.

Grass that will not grow

Shade, dogs and kids beat most real lawns.

The fix  An artificial lawn in the right spec looks realistic and takes the punishment.

★★★★★

We have had a huge amount of work done by Arran and Jake. The driveway has been extended, the front garden fully dug out replaced by a new fence and an astroturf feature the back garden altered for the driveway extension then adding a new porcelain tiled patio area. …

We've just had the bottom section of our garden completely remodelled by Aaron, Jake and Ashley, and I'm absolutely delighted with the result. To say it was a challenge would be an understatement. The area was an overgrown jungle, full of weeds and rubbish, and had become completely unusable. …

Questions

Artificial & Natural Turf FAQs

Is artificial grass good for dogs?

Yes. It drains through, hoses clean and does not turn to mud. We install a base that lets it drain properly.

When is the best time to lay real turf?

Spring and autumn are ideal, but with proper watering turf can be laid most of the year. We will advise based on your garden.

Do you do the whole garden or just the lawn?

Either. Many of our lawns go in as part of a full redesign with a new patio and fencing, but we are happy to replace a tired lawn on its own.
